Miejska Góra

Shortly after leaving the village of Bodzentyn, the trail enters the ŚNP near the peak of Miejska Góra (426 metres above sea level). Built of 400 million-year-old Devonian rocks, the mountain is a very good viewpoint of the Bodzentyńska valley. Climbing its top through the forest consisting mainly of fir, beech, and pine, we can see numerous ant hills.

After reaching the summit, we head towards the Czarna Woda valley and “Czarny Las” strict protection area, located to the left of the trail. Established in 1954, it protects a part of the subcontinental oak-hornbeam forest. The picturesque valley of Czarna Woda reveals the beauty of midforest meadows and clearings whose existence results from the periodic flooding of the river called Czarna Woda.

After passing the valley, the trail goes along the embankment of a narrow-gauge railway, closed in the 1950s. Built under the Austrian partition, it was used for wood transport. The trail leads almost to the last railway station, located in Święta Katarzyna. At this point the blue trails joins the red one, which is the main trail in the Święokrzyskie mountains (Gołoszyce – Kuźniaki).
