More than 4,000 animal species have been found in the Świętokrzyski National Park. Its fauna has been discovered unequally. Along with well-studied vertebrates, there is a considerable group of invertebrates, abundant in far less familiar species.
Particularly noteworthy is the high share of montane and boreal-montane species in comparison to adjacent areas. Many of these species occur at their range limit, and in isolated or insular positions.
