Głosy ptaków Świętokrzyskiego Parku Narodowego i jego otuliny

Ptaki wydają różnorakie odgłosy, służące im do powiadomienia otoczenia o zaistniałej sytuacji. Głosy godowe – śpiew, często bardzo złożone, wydawane są głównie przez samce. Za pomocą głosów godowych i terytorialnych samce starają się przywabić partnerkę, zaznaczają swoje terytorium, utrzymują więzi w parze, przepędzają rywali. Dźwięki wydawane przez ptaki służą również do porozumiewania się, „rozmów” pomiędzy członkami ptasiej rodziny czy stada. Są to głosy wabiące, kontaktowe oraz alarmowe. Głosy wabiące i kontaktowe służą do przywoływania osobników własnego gatunki oraz utrzymania kontaktu między osobnikami w stadzie. Głosy alarmowe są reakcją na zagrożenie i niebezpieczeństwo, mogą być ostrzeżeniem dla piskląt czy innych członków stada, a czasem nawet dla osobników innych gatunków. W większości wypadków do wytwarzania dźwięków służy ptakom specjalny narząd umieszczony na końcu tchawicy, w miejscu w którym rozdziela się on na 2 oskrzela. Narząd ten nosi nazwę krtani dolnej. Niektóre ptaki wytwarzają dźwięki bez użycia aparatu głosowego. Są to głosy instrumentalne. Na przykład klekotanie bociana, powstaje bez udziału narządu głosu, tylko poprzez uderzenia dzioba. Tak samo bębnienie dzięcioła, polega na szybkim uderzaniu dziobem o gałąź czy pień drzewa. Do wytwarzania głosów służą również skrzydła lub pióra. Niektóre gatunki ptaków klaskają skrzydłami np. uszatka (sowa uszata). Samiec kszyka w okresie godowym krąży wysoko nad terytorium, nurkując ku ziemi, rozkłada szeroko sterówki ogona, co powoduje charakterystyczne „beczenie”.
